Living Places – Delivering Sustainable Homes for a Better Future

Velux Company Ltd

This CPD will provide the following learning outcomes: We are the Indoor Generation – How a healthy indoor climate is vital for health & well being; The importance of natural daylight & ventilation in buildings; Active House Principles; How the choice of different materials can reduce the CO2 in a building.

11:30

The Role of Airtightness Membranes in Energy Efficient and Low Carbon Construction

DuPont Performance Building Solutions

This CPD will feature: The importance of airtightness and its contribution to thermal improvement; Using air and vapour control layers and vapour permeable underlays with suitable ancillaries to improve airtightness; Regulations and standards – Part L and the future standard for homes and buildings; Design considerations and buildability; The importance of training, education and collaboration.

Sourcing Sustainable Doorsets: Timber, Carbon & Compliance

Jeld-Wen UK Ltd

The construction industry continues to change rapidly as sustainability becomes a key driver for design and specification. Clients expect more than just compliance, they want products that improve energy efficiency, meet net zero targets, and have a lower environmental impact.
Doorsets play a much bigger role in this than many people realise. They affect thermal performance, acoustic control, fire safety and embodied carbon.
This CPD will help specifiers navigate the industry changes and understand how to specify doorsets that are responsibly sourced, legally compliant and sustainable. At the end of the CPD, delegates should know more about:
  • Sustainable Timber sourcing and their impacts on the environment
  • Sustainability regulations and certification schemes
  • Specifying sustainable doorsets

14:00

Natural Roofing Slate, Specifying the Best

Cupa Natural Slate

Our newly updated RIBA-approved CPD takes architects beyond the basics, exploring the geology, composition, and sustainability of natural slate. Learn practical specification tools, quality control, and installation guidance, plus inspiring real-world projects to ensure problem-free, high-performance slate projects.

15:00

Future-Proofing Buildings with Sustainable HVAC Solutions

Advanced Ergonomic Technologies Ltd

This CPD explores how AET’s underfloor air conditioning (UfAC) supports more sustainable, flexible, and cost-efficient buildings across refurbishment and new-build projects. UfAC systems deliver measurable performance benefits, including 3–19% total savings, with up to 18% reductions in operational energy, 9–16% savings in upfront carbon, and up to 20% reductions in whole-life embodied carbon, depending on project configuration. For refurbishments, reduced service zone requirements help increase usable headroom and unlock value in constrained buildings. In new builds, slimmer slab-to-slab heights can reduce superstructure costs — delivering circa £1.7m in upfront savings on a typical 10-storey building, a 14% height reduction, or the potential to add an extra floor within the same overall height.

By moving services to the floor and using modular, reconfigurable components, UfAC enables long-term adaptability, reduced waste, and improved whole-life performance — supporting sustainable design from day one and well into the future.
