Natural Stone Bricks – 4.5 Billion Years of Geology Shaping a Sustainable, Low-Carbon Future

CED Ltd

This CPD cuts through 4.5 billion years of geology to show how natural stone, including modern stone-brick formats is becoming a genuinely low-carbon, high-performance alternative to manufactured materials. We explore how stone delivers durability, beauty and dramatically lower embodied carbon, and why this shift hints at a new stone age for sustainable construction.

Better by Integration

Keyfix Ltd NI and IG Masonry Support

Together, IG Masonry Support and Keyfix will deliver insights on tackling cavity congestion to support Building Safety Act Gateway 2 compliance. Attendees will gain an understanding of modern slab-edge cavity challenges, key compliance, and co-ordination risks, and how masonry support, fire barriers, cavity trays, and wall ties interact. The sessions also demonstrate how a system-co-ordinated approach can reduce risk and improve compliance across your projects.
Learning objectives for DCE content are:

  • Understand modern slab-edge cavity congestion and why it matters

Fire Safety in Tall Buildings

Rockwool Ltd

Fire safety is of the utmost importance when specifying materials for the external walls of all buildings, but tall buildings pose unique risks and challenges. This CPD highlights relevance to Building Regulations and government guidance for high rise buildings, and what this means when it comes to insulation and fire stopping.

Solutions for Render in Very Severe Locations

Fassa UK Ltd

This CPD presentation provides architectural and construction professionals with the essential knowledge needed to specify render systems in very severe weather locations. We will explore how to identify high-risk areas, the relevant standards, render systems and finishes along with best practices that ensure long-term durability.

We will look to understand the methodology and application of the Wind Driven Rain Index to assess local exposure levels. Identify the requirements for a render system in a ‘very severe’ location, including factors such as exposure and render build up. We will gain an overview of British and European standards, including BS EN 998-1, and test certification to confirm product suitability.
